The European Union today passed the Aquatic Equipment Energy Management Act (EU 2024/305), requiring all aquarium heaters and lighting systems sold in the EU to comply by 2026:
Smart Grid Integration: Devices must synchronize with home energy management systems (HEMS) to reduce power consumption during peak hours.
Carbon Labeling: Mandatory carbon footprint labeling across product lifecycles, with ≥40% recycled materials in housing.
Taucken’s Response:
Accelerate the technological upgrading and iteration of aquarium heaters, and launch more energy-saving and environmentally friendly products based on the 40% energy saving compared to traditional heaters.
Develop carbon footprint traceability systems to accelerate the visualization of the entire process from raw material procurement to logistics.
The International Aquarium Association (IAA) stated, “This regulation will phase out 30% of high-energy-consumption products, steering the industry toward carbon neutrality.”
